INSELSPITAL – THE UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL OF BERN

As a university hospital, the Inselspital plays an important role in the Swiss health care system. Founded in 1354, the hospital is rooted in the community unlike virtually any other business. Approximately 8,300 employees strive to deliver their best every day in this learning organization.

Challenges

  • The three existing pediatric clinics (pediatric surgery, general pediatrics and an emergency center for children and adolescents) are to be merged into one clinic
  • The economization of the health care market, digitalization and a new shared understanding of culture and leadership are among the catalysts for this organizational development
  • The aim is to recruit staff members and managers for the merger of the three clinics
