PERFORMANCE CULTURE

Aargauische Kantonalbank

The Aargauische Kantonalbank (AKB) is a universal bank for private and business clients as well as for institutional investors. AKB has 31 offices in the canton of Aargau and in the neighboring region of Olten-Gösgen-Gäu in Solothurn. AKB employees around 790 people and manages around 230,000 clients.

Challenges

  • The Aargauische Kantonalbank (AKB) had the aim of better anchoring the management principles more firmly in everyday working life, and thus develop a common management culture and understanding of leadership
  • AKB specifically wanted to establish a 'performance culture with humanity'. The definition of and the transformation to such a culture was a challenge

Contribution

  • Bernd Remmers Consultants developed a training concept which was rolled out at the lowest management level
  • Using Culture Checks, the first step was to determine the current leadership behavior of the managers. On the basis of these results and the AKB leadership principles, the focal points and contents of leadership training were defined
  • A second Culture Check was carried out a few months after the courses in order to evaluate the changes and define the focal points for further training measures in the future

Impact

  • The second Culture Check proved that leadership quality had improved
  • The corporate culture evolved towards a performance culture
  • The regular cooperation of executive staff in the training program resulted in the interfaces in everyday life being significantly optimized
  • Due to the positive experience, AKB took the decision to introduce this training concept at all executive levels
